themes : pimpin’ a fan / sucks site

One of the things I love about the internet is the fact that I can create something within a few hours to support or hate a product, company or ANYTHING I consume. For example if I thought Estee Lauder made me super pretty (gosh, I’ve gone all sappy since this post) I could knock up a quick WP blog with a custom theme to evangelise for them.
What would I need to complete my custom theme? A good font! But which font?
This post gives a huge list of 100 companies with associated fonts. A slight German bias, but great fun none the less. For more of a web2.0 feel try this HUGE illustrated list of web2.0 logos with associated fonts. Just knock up a fake logo with the new font and apply to a great customisable theme like this one.
Just beware those cease and desist letters!

I’ve had the Fontshop one bookmarked for a while, but the Typografie one is new to me - so thanks for that!
Yeah WordPress definitely needs an Improvement on the Font Front thass fer darn sure! I can’t believe how many WordPress Blogs i see & the fonts just suck - like small, tiny, narrow, difficult to read*
& a lot of people go with the Ugly default template which just looks like Crap*
;))
Why doesn’t somebody tell WordPress to throw out those Ugly Templates from 10 years ago & get with the program!!
Billy
You know what, half of me agrees with you but half of me doesn’t. It’s a little like making a salad. Everyone knows you need lettuce, but not everyone knows how to make a good dressing. I kinda like that I know a better dressing than most, and that people praise it.
Same with themes. If the default themes follow the fashions too tightly, and push the flexibility of the tool too far, there is less room to quickly differentiate your own blog.
On the other hand, it would be nice to raise the bar a little through a couple of new defaults. Maybe we should start a campaign to bundle some of the more popular but simple themes with the next release?
i totally hear ya!
when i was first looking at Blogging i tried WordPress on the advice of a few friendz* Well my first Blog needless to say didn’t look too hot* I am not a Graphic Designer but i do appreciate good Art + Great Design*
so i tried Blogger + in 10 minutes whipped up a Decent looking Blog with c0ol coloured Fonts + a Nice Dark background which shows off Photos & Visual Images fantastically*
Now all the “Pro” type Bloggers are going WordPress cuz they like the Control they have & i understand that* But U shouldn’t have to sacrifice a decent look for that*
A friend of mine who is a relatively Big Blogger just transferred his Blog to WordPress - i was totally underwhelmed* The Colours don’t POP like they did on his old Blog + the Fonts are harder to read - basically it Sucks - altho i haven’t had the heart to tell him that*
;))
I was into daria.be yesterday looking at themes - is there any other Resource available for Free WP themes or Templates???
Thanks!! Billy ;))
